Past Times in Phenix City

One of Josh's friends opened a restaurant in Phenix City called Past Times. Today we had a little extra time so we went to go see what it was all about. This place is known for its Bacon Wrapped Fried Hotdogs also know as the Danger Dog. We have heard so much about their menu that we just wanted to try it all. So we got our top five choices and thought we would let you guys know what we thought.

Here you can see four of the choices. We picked the Danger Dog, Scrambled Dog, Patty Melt, and Onion Rings.

 Patty Melt with Fries

This is the Danger Dog, which consists of a hotdog wrapped in bacon fried on top of a scrambled egg and topped with chili. It was delicious!
This was our fifth choice. Clay called it the coup de grace, or the stike that kills. It's chicken fried bacon. We could only handle one or two strips. They were delicious, but need to be spread over many people!

The damage. As you can tell, we didn't even come close to finishing. However, we conquered our mission, which was to at least try the top five. If we were to reccommend any menu choice it would be the onion rings, patty melt, and the danger dog.

If you live anywhere near Phenix City you would be missing out if you didn't go and at least try Past Times.

Coupon Obsession

So as many of you know, I have taken a liking to coupons. I know that many people think that it is something that the elderly are obsessed over. I can't help that I love saving money!! My all time lowest of lows is when I was able to get 2 weeks worth of groceries for $90. That would mean that Josh and I could eat for $45 a week. That's crazy to me!! Since we have became vegetarians we haven't quite got that low yet. Fresh veggies and fruits are a little more expensive, but so much better for you! We went shopping tonight and I thought I would clue you guys in on our little "date" night. It isn't the most romantic, but it's cheap and we're together while we do it.

In the first picture you'll see Josh using a scanner. Recently, I have been selected to be on the National Consumer Panel (NCP) It's a little time consuming, but I really like the fact that they reward you for contributing and it's nice to know that my opinions matter. I'm just starting, but it's not that bad.

It all starts on Sunday when my neighbor and I have a Couponfest (we cut coupons and gossip). Then I sit down then the sales ads and price check where everything is the cheapest. Finally, I make a list of where I need to go and what I need to buy. Tonight we just went to CVS (my all time fave) and Kroger. Tomorrow I'll go to Walmart and Publix.

My total for Kroger, which is all of my food groceries for the next two weeks, is $107. That means for one week Josh and I can eat for about $54. My goal is to get back down to about $40 a week. I'll post in two weeks to see if I made it or not.

Auburn vs. South Carolina

Josh had to work, as usual, so I went up there to spend some time with him during the game. I thought they would be crazy busy, but oddly enough there wasn't very many people there to watch the game. It started out just me and then friends tended to continually add up. We had a blast!

Auburn ended up winning 37-24. It was a tough win but we pulled it off! While celebrating our win I fell and skinned my knee. I have forgotten how much a skinned knee hurts. Kids have to be tough to go through this! Hope fully it will heal soon. I thought I would show a picture so you can share in my pain.

Night at Samford

As most of you know Josh and I are on totally different schedules than the rest of the world. We are by no means what you would call a nuclear family with a nuclear schedule. Josh normally gets off work around 1am or 2am. So we don't go to sleep until around 3am or 4am. However, we don't get up until noon most days. Sometimes we love our schedule, but other times we hate it. We have a desperate longing at times for more normal schedule.

After our "neighborhood" campfire, we weren't that tired. We decided to go get Starbucks and go stare at the stars on Samford lawn. I love how content we are by watching the stars listening to some Dave Matthews Band and occasionally being humored by the drunk stumbling home from downtown.

In the middle of our pure bliss we were able to capture some pics...

Neighborhood Campfire

Okay...Okay...It really just consisted of us and our neighbor Tracy and her cute little daughter Olivia, but that's all we need to find any excuse to create fire and eat S'mores. We had a blast! The mosquitoes were a little bothersome, but once the sun fell it was just beautiful!  I think it's somewhat relaxing to drink a little wine on a beautiful night with the people you love while sitting around a campfire. I can't wait until it gets a little cooler so that we actually use the fire for heat...but it was just fine tonight. Here are some photos...

Josh's beautiful campfire! I looks like something out of a book.

Cooking some hot dogs!
Sweet  Olivia

Delicious S'mores

Isn't this fire just beautiful?

Well, I now smell like I have been camping and I secretly like it...I could get use to this!

We're Back!

Gosh, it has been so long since I have posted anything. I started this thing when we first got engaged. I posted three times. So hopefully, this time will be more successful.

I just thought this would be a great way of keeping in touch with family members from back home without using Facebook.

For those of you who might not know much about Josh and me...We just married (about a year and a half ago). We met in Auburn, AL. We both graduated from Auburn University with our Bachelor's degrees. Josh went on to Auburn at Montgomery for his Master's in Business. He is currently a manager at Locos. I am currently still searching for a job. It is incredibly hard to find a teaching job right now. So, I have applied with Auburn University for a Coordinator position. I would love to have a teaching job, but I am just as passionate about Auburn University. So, hopefully everything will work out. We have only one child, which happens to be four-legged. Her name is Bella...

We are currently still living in the fabulous trailer that we went to college in. However, my dad was so gracious to at least help us remodel it. So it looks nice, we just are tired of living in it. We get "house fever" almost every week. We just don't want the price tag that come with a house. So maybe we will suck it up and finally move out, but for now we are living Trailer Fabulous.

Well, I look forward to keeping everyone updated with our wild and wacky life!

This past weekend was the Auburn vs. Clemson game, which was fantastic! Josh doesn't get off for many games, but he did get off for this one. We had a blast tailgating and going to the game. It was a nice break from the daily grind. Here are a few photos...

Beautiful sky as the game was starting

We are so happy that we were finally ahead...but not for long...
At Toomer's...we finally won...it was a close game!

I love Auburn and all of it's traditions!

Keep reading and commenting! I like to know that I'm not writing this just for myself!
