Lions, Tigers, and Bears...OH MY!!

So it is that time of year again! Since Josh and I have met, we have been promising ourselves to go camping. We have just been either too poor or too busy to go. Not this year! We are dedicated to going, no matter what! As you can see my husband, just couldn't wait to open our new tent Ashleigh and Jon got us for a wedding present. We spent most of the night at Academy looking at unnecessary camping things, and fishing gear. So needless to say, we can't wait to get out into the wild blue yonder! Don't worry when we actually do get outside and use our tent, we will be blogging about it!

King Cake and Good Weather

"Laissez les bons temps rouler" or in English, "Let the good times roll"

Where I am from, Mardis Gras is tradition. So sadly living in Auburn, it's not that big up here. So this is as much MArdi Gras as I'll get this year. I have decided to take on making a King Cake from scratch. A king cake is a cinnamon-roll like cake inside with sugary icing with traditional Mardi Gras colored sprinkles on the outside.

Here is my journey...

First time I have ever used dry active yeast

First time I have ever had to knead anything!

My bread, sitting in the warm sun.

Before...

After... it's alive!!!

The recipe I used made two!

Uhm...can you say yum!

Well that was my King Cake experience. If I were to do it again, I would use different icing. I am taking it to work tomorrow. So let's see how other people like it!

Happy 25th Birthday!!

Yep, I turned 25 this week. AHHH!! Part of me wants to go out and rent a car and get a hotel room all at the same time. However, Josh and I went to Biloxi. We certainly didn't hit any jackpots, but we did enjoy ourselves. Here are a few pictures.

Don't get too excited it's soooo fake!...LOL. It's been tradition that when Josh and I go somewhere, I get a piece of jewelry, The idea is that when I'm old and grey I can look at all of my jewelry and remember the good times. So, with it being Biloxi, I thought big and fake suited it just fine! It is pretty though!

When we got back, Josh had to go to work...a whole other story. So I went to Chewacla for  a short afternoon hike, the weather was beautiful!!

When we got back Josh took me to a nice place in Opelika called Cafe 123. It was nice to sit and just enjoy each other's company. It sure didn't hurt to have great food either!

Still a Teacher at Heart

So yesterday was Valentines Day, and of course, I had to work. However, that didn't stop me! Single or not, Valentines Day is about LOVE! Love for your family, friends, and coworkers and Valentines Day is a perfect day to tell them so. Life can change in a blink of an eye and I would have hate for the ones that I love to not know that I love them! My callers, thought it was hilarious that I had heart antennae on my head, and was all giddy about Taylor's Bakery cupcake explosion, and that I made Valentines for everyone of them. What can I say you can take the teacher out of the school , but you can't take the teacher out of the girl. To top it all off, I came home to a perfect Valentines night with the love of my life. It was truly the best Valentines Day ever!
